Accommodations
The students in my classroom come from different backgrounds, cultures, and have different learning needs. Students will be working in groups of two or four for most of the projects in this lesson plan which will accommodate for students with disabilities. There will be many opportunities for success, such as creating posters, writing a paper, quizzes, exploring outdoors, etc. When exploring wetlands outdoors, if students have learning disabilities, accommodations will be made for them to be able to explore with us or I will bring the wetland to them by creating a model of a real-life wetland.
When we are learning about locations of wetlands, we will explore areas where all of my students are originally from. We will be able to see the amount (if any) of wetlands located in that area. This will make students feel important, proud, and more willing to learn about this science topic.
